Talks, Training, TRX

I was honoured to present the “TRX for Mobility” workshop at IDEA Fit in LA in July! This is the largest fitness convention of its kind in the world.

Presenting at IDEA World Fitness Convention, LA, July 2016

In any industry presenting to your peers is a great honour and privilege.

After a few years of presenting at the top fitness convention in Asia and many years teaching TRX programmes in Asia Pacific, I was given an opportunity last July to present at the IDEA World Fitness Convention which is arguably the highest stage in personal training and group fitness education worldwide.

I co-presented with TRX’s “Yoda” (Chris Frankel, TRX Head of Human Performance) on “TRX for Mobility” and luckily enough I was able to put in a lot of my own content into the class.

The content had evolved on how I actually train my clients to squat better, and to help their mobility for the overhead squat.

In one sense, it was straightforward to put together the content. For example, this is a photo from my archives taken from 3 years ago in 2013, following my workshop in China to participants on how to use the TRX effectively to improve overhead squat mobility!

Having said that I spent quite a bit of time making sure that the presentation was practical and entertaining at the same time.

Hong Kong Dry Runs!

Thanks to Optimum Performance Studio in Hong Kong, I was able to present my workshop three times to fitness professionals in Hong Kong beforehand, with the cost of admission being honest feedback at the end.

It was fantastic to have 10-16 participants in each of the three sessions, all asking some excellent questions and keeping me on my toes.

With this insightful feedback from participants, I was able to refine my presentation for the world wide viewing in LA.

On to LA!

Held at the LA Convention Centre, the whole event is a zoo of people in Lycra, fitness companies, sounds, activity and equipment.

TRX was centre stage and even had a dedicated room for all its presentations.

On the day we had just over 100 people attend and they were all very receptive to my information and style.

By all accounts I had rave reviews and many people bought TRX suspension trainers on the back of the presentation / workshop.

As an added bonus, I also witnessed Kelly Starrett launching the new dual anchor point TRX with wooden handles.

This is a fantastic tool for modifying the difficulty of gymnastics rings exercises!

I had tremendous fun meeting a great bunch of personal trainers from the States and all around the world.

It was also fun to explore LA after the convention.

Bucket list item ticked!
